Now We Know The Motive: a #FreeTaj update

At first glance it appears that the false charges pressed against Brother Taj by by his ex are retaliation against against his insistent outspokenness against her. At his latest hearing on November 27th, a more devious motivation became clear, whereby Ms. Johnson could kill two birds with one stone.

It was a strategy that the judge noted Brother Taj could use to infer a motive as to why his ex would over exaggerate what happened, as he instructed the DA to make sure they turned over the case file they held onto for over 8 months, related to the felony theft and real estate fraud case that Ms. Johnson was (finally) charged with this past October.

It's not coincidence that Ms. Johnson, who pursued Brother Taj as far back as early 2016, pressed charges with fabricated evidence that he cyber-harrassed her starting last November. The timing is key given that she'd been outed by 9News, who broke the story if her forgery and theft just one month prior. Now, it certainly looks like Ms. Johnson pressed charges in order to gain sympathy as a victim in order to escape being prosecuted herself.

There's a kicker that makes this more than conjecture. While the police never contacted Brother Taj about Ms. Johnson's claims, detectives investigating her theft contacted him after she complained that he was posting on social media blackmail-like claims that he was going to blow the whistle on her case. Of course, not only did he not make such claims, the postings in question were posted weeks before the 9News story broke. Police dismissed Ms. Johnson's bungled attempt to derail their case, however, she clearly decided to up the ante by outright framing Brother Taj.

Next up for Brother Taj is a follow up hearing on his First Amendment motion for dismissal. Turns out, the motion was weighty enough that even a month and a half has not been enough time for the prosecution to respond...
